Homeless Transients
Loveland has felt the impact of the Homeless issue in Colorado and it could get worse!
Rapid Growth in Homelessness
2020: Estimated 150 homeless individuals; fewer than 20 actually from Loveland
2025: Over 800 homeless; less than 1% believed to be from Loveland
At the start, the city had no homeless program or budget—now it spends millions annually
Narrative Controlled by Mayor Marsh & Supporters
The Mayor and supporters manipulate the message to make it sound like most of the homeless are long-standing Loveland residents. This is false and they know it
Their messaging is then used to justify increased budgets and a homeless shelter in the city center
Local media reinforces this narrative, framing crimes with misleading headlines (“A Loveland Man/Woman”) while clearly identifying outsiders from other cities who commit crimes in Loveland
Voting & Residency Concerns
Transients directed to the Loveland Resource Center (137 S. Lincoln Ave)
Many register to vote using the shelter address
Under Mayor Marsh, this qualifies them as “residents,” allowing access to financial support
Outside Influence
Advocates from outside Loveland attend city council meetings to portray homeless as locals
This pressures council to expand funding for shelters and programs
Funding Decisions
Long-standing faith-based nonprofits, such as House of Neighborly Service, saw funding cut
Politically aligned organizations promoted instead
Loveland as a Hub
Research interviews: homeless individuals consistently reported coming from elsewhere
Most said they were told to come because of resources
One man stated he and two others were given a ride to Loveland since he didn’t have a car
Regional Problem, Local Burden
Homeless spend already over $6 million and growing
Issue requires cooperation across Northern Colorado, including Larimer and Weld Counties
Current policies risk making Loveland the regional center for homelessness
Election Warning
If Mayor Marsh’s endorsed candidates (Daniels, Rothberg, Wyrick, Mallo) are elected:
Homeless population will grow
Tax increases will be necessary to sustain programs
Call to action:
Say no to Mayor Marsh’s legacy. Say no to Daniels, Rothberg, Wyrick, and Mallo.
Loveland needs real leadership.
