Budget Cuts and Lost Services

Recent budget cuts stemmed from lost revenue after the grocery tax repeal. Had voters understood the real consequences, the outcome may have been different. So how did this happen?

Citizens deserve to know who pushed for the repeal, why they did it, how they misled the public about the risks, and how they attacked those who tried to warn them.

Here's what you need to know..

  • In 2023, some council members warned that the grocery tax ballot initiative would cause a budget shortfall and service cuts.

  • Mayor Marsh and her supporters denied the warnings, accusing those councilors of trying to scare voters.

  • The Mayor and her slate tied their campaigns to the tax cut initiative, using it as a political springboard.

  • Voters supported the tax cut because they were mislead by the Mayor, her supporters, and her slate of candidates.

  • In early 2024, city staff advised council of a potential $10 million budget shortfall.

  • Despite this, Mayor Marsh continued to repeatedly claim no shortfall existed.

  • On July 1st, 2025, CFO Brian Waldes (Colorado’s 2024 CFO of the Year) finally had enough and publicly refuted the Mayor’s false claims, calling them “so misleading and damaging to the truth”. (See video below)

  • To this day, Mayor Marsh refuses to accept responsibility for misleading citizens about the impact of the lost sales tax revenue.

Loveland was mislead for the purpose of political gain and that is why the swim beach was closed, the fireworks show was cancelled and budget cuts took place on our Police, Fire and Library.

That is the truth.

Mayor Marsh isn’t on the ballot this year, but her legacy is. Please don’t vote for her hand-picked candidates. Say NO to Daniels, Rothberg, Wyrick and Mallo!
